Rap fans, this is for you, as the African rap scene is consistently contributing to global rap trends. Rappers have a unique way of making listeners identify with familiar pains, as they share similar scars from shared struggles as Back-to-back punch lines evoke nerve yearning sensations.

Fast pacing Enzo Pe$o, an Abuja rapper, has something unique to offer. “Peso,” a Latino stage name, as the rapper is all about his money and isn’t afraid to say it, the Mexican currency is clearly at play here. This already is a planned gimmick emphasizing the rapper’s persona.

Developing a craft while having listeners understand a viewpoint through mere words isn’t as simple as it may appear, but that isn’t stopping Enzo from defining his message. The rapper prioritizes consciousness by observing the inspiration that his surroundings provide him with; even simply driving through a landscape provides an avenue for Enzo to take note of the moment and embrace the creativity that the experience presents into a rhythmic rap flow.

A Rapper’s discography is a beautiful sight to behold, gliding through an embodiment of work in which an artiste pours out parts of their souls through hours of literal creation. Enzo’s first project, “Thought,” was an eye-opener into his talent, depicting the various struggles that love and sorrow can manifest. “Moby dick” begins with a slow pounding jazz beat accompanied by trumpet chords. Enzo tells his pain story, which motivates him to fight harder in this battle we call life. His wordplay has been compared to that of Kota the friend and Joey Badass. Another amazing aspect of the project is Enzo’s audacity in recording it in his home studio with featured artists coming to drop their verses on his mic.

Toastbar Tuesday’s

Enzo didn’t stop there as he continued in his craft; two years later, during the lockdown, a friend suggested creating an open bar session, which he dubbed “Toastbar Tuesday’s.” This allowed the rapper to hone his rap style and deliver his content consistently. Each session demonstrated Enzo’s delivery style, which is quite remarkable because he is able to switch tempos and rhythms while giving clear-cut punch lines that drive meanings and narratives. Later, he compiled all of his toast bar sessions into a project to demonstrate how creativity is similar to energy as it can never be destroyed.

The rapper recognizes his place in the Nigerian rap scene but also recognizes that he has a global imprint to establish through his music while learning and drawing inspiration from his life experiences.
